How we build a fence that lasts.
From the free on-site estimate to the final walkthrough, here's exactly how we build a fence that's still straight after twenty winters.
Six steps, every job.
Free on-site estimate
We walk your property lines with you, settle the height and where the gates go, and give you the price in writing before anyone picks up a shovel.
Bylaw check
We check the fence height, corner-lot sight line and pool enclosure rules for your address, so the fence passes the first time.
Layout
We mark the fence line and post spacing with you. Underground utilities are located before any digging starts.
Posts below the frost line
We auger below frost, about 4 feet around Peterborough and deeper in wet ground, and set every structural post in concrete. Rock gets pinned or core-set.
Panels and gates
Boards, panels or mesh go up level, racked to follow the grade on slopes, and gates are hung to swing and latch properly.
Final walkthrough
We walk the finished fence with you, check every gate and latch, and clean up before we leave.
Step four is the one that matters.
The ground here freezes about 4 feet down. A post that stops short of that gets lifted a little every winter. Below the frost line, in concrete, it stays where we put it.
How long it takes.
Most residential fences go in within 1 to 3 days.
- Pool fence
- 1 to 2 days once materials are in
- Privacy fence
- 1 to 3 days
- Rock, slopes or long runs
- Longer; the schedule is in your quote
- Bylaw check
